Abacus is a calculating device which consists of a frame with rods on which beads are moved to represent the numbers.
Beads are moved in a specific pattern on the roads to perform arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage, square, cube, square root or cube root. Decimal and fraction operations can also be performed on abacus.
An Abacus trained person can do arithmetical calculations faster than an untrained person. But the challenge is how to carry an abacus device every time whenever calculations are required.By Proper training kids are trained to develop an imaginary abacus which they are using for mental calculations even without a physical abacus device or without any pen or paer. Seems Interesting? This is called Abacus based mental calculation or visualization which is many times faster than traditional calculations.

1. Develops Picture Memory/Visualization Skills
The real outcome of an abacus is when a kid is able to do calculation without the availability of a physical abacus device as an abacus device is not available everywhere. If a kid is not able to do calculations without an abacus,then learning abacus is of no use. At Aryabhata Abacus & Vedic Maths Academy, we train the kids from day one on visualization where your kid is trained on creating imaginary abacus and beads and doing the arithmetical calculations. When a kid learns to create imaginary abacus and beads, picture memory gets stronger. That helps in developing visualization skills or picture memory.Visualization skills or strong picture memory can also be used in other subjects by some advanced training.
2. Development of Fast Mental Calculation
With regular practice kid is able to create image of beads and can solve the mathematical addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentage, square, cube, square root or cube root.Decimal and fraction operations.Once kid does the visualization, the text numbers are now processed in the form of images which leads to faster processing and enhanced speed of calculations.
3. Improvement in Listening Skills
The learning outcome majorly depends on active listening. If a kid is not listening properly we can’t expect a kid to have a better understanding of the topic irrespective of IQ level.Means Active listening is a prerequisite of better understanding.
Major challenge is how to improve the listening skills of the kid. Many times at School PTMs we come to know such situations where it is being told to parents that their kid is very intelligent but doesn’t pay attention to listening. At Aryabhata Abacus & Vedic Maths Academy we ensure that in each & every class,each kid is tested on questions. Once the answer given by the kid is not correct, we ask further questions on abacus to check whether the answer was wrong because of listening issues or conceptual issues. Once we identify that there is a challenge with listening, kids are being sensitized to listening that leads to improvement in listening skills.
4.Improvement in Concentration & Focus
When a kid learns calculation by imagination (imaginary beads) without physical abacus, Can you expect the kid to give correct answers without proper concentration level? Definitely No. Once a kid does visualization it involves improvement in the concentration level of the kid along with development of strong picture memory. Strong concentration level is going to help the kid not only in mathematical calculations but improve the efficacy of whatever kid learns.
5. Improvement in Creative Intelligence
When a kid performs visualization( imagination of abacus beads), there is involvement of the right brain which leads to enhanced activity of the right brain. Because of visualization there is improvement in the creativity, Imagination,concentration which are governed by right brain activity.

There are 10 levels depending on the age of kid at time of joining the program.
- Foundation: This is for kid whose age is 4+ to 5 years at time of joining. There will be 10 levels for kid aged 4+ to 5 years.
- Innovators 1: This is for kid whose age is 5+ years and above. There will be only 9 levels for kid aged 5+ and above.
- Innovators 2: On successful completion of Innovators 1 kid is being promoted to Innovators 2.
- Innovators 3: On successful completion of Innovators 2 kid is being promoted to Innovators 3.
- Pioneer 1: On successful completion of Innovators 3 kid is being promoted to Pioneer 1.
- Pioneer 2: On successful completion of Pioneer 1 kid is being promoted to Pioneer 2.
- Pioneer 3: On successful completion of Pioneer 2 kid is being promoted to Pioneer 3.
- Wizard 1: On successful completion of Pioneer 3 kid is being promoted to Wizard 1.
- Wizard 2: On successful completion of Wizard 1 kid is being promoted to Wizard 2.
- Wizard 3: On successful completion of Wizard 2 kid is being promoted to Wizard 3.
Your kid will learn all following arithmetic operations. Starting will be from addition & subtraction and subsequently all arithmetic operations will be covered level wise.

At what age can my child start learning Abacus?
Any child who knows the recognition and writing of numbers 1 to 100 can start learning Abacus. Children as young as 4 or 5 years old can start learning Abacus. We have many kids who started learning Abacus even earlier at the age of 4 years 2 months also.
We recommend that you attend a demonstration session so that we can assess your child’s readiness to learn Abacus. Following the demo session, you will be able to assess whether your child is ready to learn Abacus.
What are the benefits of my child learning Abacus?
Abacus will not only increase the child’s mathematics skills, but it is whole brain development concept that will lead to improvements in the child’s creativity, concentration, visualisation, picture memory, concentration, and focus. Thus learning abacus improve your child’s overall academic performance.
Will learning Abacus interfere with my child's regular math skills?
No, learning Abacus will not interfere with your child’s regular math skills. In fact, it enhances their knowledge of mathematical ideas. Abacus will accelerate calculations through visualisation. Abacus will provide a faster result than traditional maths for the same computation. Your youngster will eventually choose Abacus over traditional maths.
Can my child learn Abacus online?
Join our interactive online live gamified classes from the comfort of your home. No commuting, no hassle, saving time and money on transportation!
Our group size is small, with no more than eight children in one batch, allowing for personalized learning for each child.
Attending an online demo session allows you to determine if your child is capable of learning online or not.
How much time should my child spend practicing Abacus?
The best time for practise will depend on your child’s age, attention span, and schedule. 20-30 minutes of daily practise is adequate for a child to master visualisation to the point that he or she can provide an answer without the need of a physical Abacus.

We have had a wonderful experience with Aryanhata Abacus and Vedic Maths acedamy. I have enrolled both my kids as elder one is learning Vedic Maths and Younger one is into Abacus. Although, Elder one was good in maths, but his speed in solving complex calculations has increased a lot. Younger son, who was in class 2, was not doing well in maths earlier, but after he started learning with Sandeep sir, it is doing wonders for him. He can solve the sums in seconds by using just his fingers. Sandeep sir is a great and a very smart teacher and he know exactly when to pull the string and when to loosen it on kids. Overall very satisfied with this learning experience for my kids.
Both my children have been learning Abacus for the last 2 yrs and we are very much satisfied with the results. Both Sir & Mam give individual attention to the students and take extra care in the form of extra classes if the student misses any class in between or is unable to cope up. Learning abacus with sir and ma’am my daughter started gingerly but over the entire span she has become so confident in her approach towards calculations and number play.
